PASTRES (Pastoralism, Uncertainty and Resilience: Global Lessons from the Margins) was a research programme that aimed to learn from pastoralists about responding to uncertainty and resilience, with lessons for global challenges.
PASTRES was funded by an ERC (European Research Council) Advanced Grant between 2018 and early 2024. The project was hosted by the ESRC STEPS Centre at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex and the European University Institute in Florence. It was led by Prof Ian Scoones (STEPS/IDS) and Dr Michele Nori (EUI), with supervision support from Dr Jeremy Lind (IDS).
